Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

Carpet cleaning is not just about removing dirt and soil from the fibres but ensuring that the Indoor Air Quality is as healthy as it can be. Because of the advancements of the modern age; fitted carpets, draught excluders, double glazing and central heating to name but a few, the quality of the air in most of our homes is poorer than it has ever been. In some cases it may even be more polluted than the outdoor air. This nice cosy warm environment is a haven for all kinds of minute creatures to live and breed in. It is a proven and very disturbing fact that "if the pillow on your bed is more than 6 years old, 10% of it's weight will be dust mite faeces". Imagine what could be in your carpet. Add to this all the bacteria, fungi, pollens etc and your carpet and upholstery could be a pretty unhealthy place. If you or a member of your family suffers from asthma, emphaseamia or other breathing related conditions regular professional cleaning may well help to alleviate their problems. Tips & Advice on How to select a Carpet Cleaning Company

Unfortunately the cleaning industry has more than its fair share of cowboy operators who by their misleading advice and poor workmanship get the whole industry a bad reputation. Listed below are some tips and advice to help you the consumer choose a professional company to provide a service you will be delighted with.

1.Only use members of the NCCA or IICRC Ask to see membership badges.
2.Ask for a written quotation. This way you will know exactly what the cost will be without any hidden extras.
3.Ask about insurance cover. Ask to see a copy of the certificate.
4.Ensure the company you choose are permanently based in your area. Check for listings in the telephone directory. Beware of Box No. address’s.
5.Ask how long the company has been trading.
6.Compare the price with time taken to do the job. Always allow approximately 30mins to set up and pack away. So if someone is charging £50.00 to clean all the ground floor carpets and says it will take around an hour, be realistic. Can all your carpets be cleaned in half an hour!!!
7.Be aware of Bait & switch Tactics. These companies offer a cheap price over the telephone then badger you into paying more once they arrive in your house. This practice should be reported to the trading standards office. Do Not be bullied, and although it may be inconvenient for you, ask them to leave without cleaning anything.
8.Do not be afraid to ask questions
